1. BUNDESLIGA

Freiburg at Koln 0-4

In the 19th minute, Christian Clemens opened the scoring for Koln, 1-0. It came on a Slawomir Peszko headed assist en route from a nice long cross from Lukas Podolski. Podolski then made it 2-0 in the 61st minute, with Peszko again providing the assist. Then in the 66th minute, it all happened. What will surely turn out to be the Bundesliga’s goal of the year was brilliantly crafted by Koln’s Christian Clemens. Clemens curled the ball unassisted and directly into goal from a corner kick, breezing it to the far post before, like a right handed bowler with a powerful hook, snapping a sharp curve to bend it just inside the post. It was absolutely magnificant and made the score 3-0. Podolski scored again in the 73rd minute to give Koln the 4-0 win.

Hoffenheim at Nurnberg 2-0

Bosnia and Herzegovina international Vedad Ibisevic made it 1-0 for Hoffenheim in the 39th minute, but only after throwing an elbow and putting out a defender on the buildup to the goal. No foul was called. In the 43rd minute, United States international Timothy Chandler for Nurnberg got a red card for a hard challenge. On 56 minutes, it was Ibisevic again for Hoffenheim, making it 2-0. In the 90th minute, Hoffenheim’s Marvin Compper was shown a red card for a foul.

Hamburg at Mainz 0-0

A couple nice saves by both keepers kept the scoresheet clean.

Schalke at Hertha Berlin 2-1

Dutch international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar made it 1-0 for Schalke with his 14th goal of the season, putting him only one behind league scoring leader Mario Gomez. Colombian Adrián Ramos equalized 1-1 on a corner kick. Fin Teemu Pukki made it 2-1 for Schalke. A great save by Hertha keeper Thomas Kraft denied Huntelaar another goal.

Wolfsburg at Bremen 1-4

Sokratis gave Bremen a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. Bremen doubled their lead in the 45th minute on a Claudio Pizarro goal. Wolfsburg seemed to get one back but the goal was erased on account of an offsides call. Bremen put the game away in the 55th minute when Markus Rosenberg made it 3-0. Later, Rosenberg hit the post. Bremen’s Marko Arnautovic made it 4-0 in the 70th minute. Four minutes from time and Wolfsburg got a consolation goal from Marcel Schäfer. Felix Magath’s men have only won once in their last seven games as the loss dropped Wolfsburg to 14th place, three points off the relegation zone.

Mönchengladbach at Augsburg 0-1

It took 51 minutes for the game’s first and only goal. Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker scored it for Augsburg on a free kick deflected off the wall and in. The free kick came as a result of a foul on Sascha Mölders. It was only the 3rd win in Bundesliga history for Dutchman Jos Luhukay’s Augsburg.

Kaiserslautern at Dotrmund 1-1

The team with the second highest average attendance in Europe scored first, when Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa put the ball into the back of the net. Then Kaiserslautern equalized on a spectacular Olcay Sahan goal, scoring his first ever Bundesliga goal. Dortmund hit the woodwork three times, including one by Robert Lewandowski, who has eight goals in his last eight games.

Bayern Munich at Stuttgart 2-1

Stuttgart scored first. Mario Gomez scored to equalize. Then Super Mario scored the winner, his 15th this season, tops in the league. The goal came after a Stuttgart red card.

Mainz vs Koln 1-1

this was the makeup match from last month which had to be called off a half hour before kickoff on account of the referee having attempted suicide earlier in the day. Lukas Podolski scored for Koln, his 14th of the season, only one behind league leader Mario Gomez. Podolski is having his best season ever, as his previous high scoring mark was 13, and the season isn’t even half way done and he’s surpassed that! Podolski has also refused to sign an extension with Koln as a number of European teams are courting him.

2. BUNDESLIGA

Dusseldorf at Bochum 1-1

Japanese international Takashi Inui made it 1-0 for Bochum on a very nice goal in the first half. Sascha Rösler equalized for Dusseldorf in the second half.

FSV Frankfurt at Union Berlin 0-4

Chinedu Ede made it 1-0 for Union in the 17th minute. A 28th minute own goal made it 2-0 for the Berlinners. Then Union came close when they banged the crossbar. In the 77th minute, Christian Stuff made it 3-0. Minutes later and Simon Terodde, who is on loan from FC Koln, gave the home team Berlinners a 4-0 lead. Frankfurt hit the woodwork on a beautifully taken free kick late in the game.
