MAN U'S VAN GAAL IN HOT SEAT

December 27, 2015

Manchester United have not lost four matches in a row since 1961.

That is, until now.

Man U lost their fourth in a row at Stoke on Boxing Day.

It's been seven games since the Red Devils last tasted victory.

This all bodes very unwell for coach Luis van Gaal.

The Dutchman is under fire big time, and a loss this coming Monday at home against Chelsea could spell the end of Man U's second attempt to fill the shoes of Sir Alex Ferguson.

BUNDESLIGA SEASON REVIEW AT THE BREAK

December 21, 2015

The first half of the 2015-16 Bundesliga season is over and the winter break kicks in for the next month or so.

Hertha Berlin have to be the surprise team so far along with their Hungarian coach Pal Dardai. The Berlinners finish the year at 3rd place in the table. It will be interesting to see whether The Old Lady can hold on for a Champions League spot, which they last enjoyed in 2009.

Early season signing Chicharito has paid off handsomely for Bayer Leverkusen thus far. The Mexican international has 11 goals in 14 games for Bayer. But will his success spell the end for Steffan Kiessling?

Best comeback of the season so far goes to Borussia Moenchengladbach, who not only lost their first five matches of the campaign, but also their Swiss wonder-coach Lucien Favre, who resigned on his own volition. Then Andre Schubert took over and Gladbach promptly won their next six games, going from last place and into 4th place in record time. Shubert has won 9, tied 2, and lost only 1 (a shock 5-0 defeat to Leverkusen the week after Gladbach beat Bayern Munchen 3-1).

On the last week of the year, Gladbach's Håvard Nordtveit's spectacular goal summed up the year nicely for The Foals as they won 3-2 against hard-fighting, newly-relegated Darmstadt.
